Drink Your Water! 💦

Evening Ladies and Gents, today’s post is all about H2O. You will hear all the time that you need to drink lots of water, but do we all really know why?

Over the years, I’ve always asked whats important trying to shift a few pounds. The most common response has been drinking water! Keeping your body hydrated is so so important. It has so many benefits that people don’t even realise!

Personally, I drink between 2 and 4 litres of water per day. I find that it really helps to keep my skin clear and helps me to eat less, especially whenever I felt a little bit peckish (I have an insane sweet tooth). Apparently our bodies struggle to identify when we are thirsty and tricks us into thinking we need food! Whenever I’m trying to be good and get the urge to grab a cookie, I drink a full glass of water. Its a great way to combat snacking if you find that you do that a lot.

Water also helps to clean your body out or toxins and this is the reason it helps you to lose weight. It helps boost your metabolism, which makes you burn calories quicker and help you lose weight. It also helps your body to retain less water, it took me a while to get my head around this. It basically means that when you are not drinking enough water, your body stores it to make sure it can hydrate the body, making you hold water and feel bloated.

Some other benefits I’ve found from drinking at least 2 litres include:

  • stronger nails (and longer! They grow so quick)
  • Reduces and clears zits
  • Reduces hair loss
  • Helps to heal sunburn
  • Helps to eat less, which helps to loose weight

If you find it difficult to drink water on its own, you can always add lemon or other fruits to your to give it more flavour. I’m really enjoying strawberry and mint infused water at the minute! If you have any infused water recipes, let me know in the comments below!

Another way I helped myself to drink my daily intake of water was to buy a Hydrate M8 water bottle. I have two of these (mainly because I wanted both colours), they show how much you should have drank throughout the day. I found these super duper helpful and I religiously take these with me everywhere.

I’m pretty sure the ones I have are 850ml, slightly less than one litre. However, I try to drink 3 of these bottles of water a day, to reassure me that I have drank my 2 litres and that bit more makes me feel as though I’ve accomplished something.
