As some of you may know from my previous posts, I am a huge Kiehl’s fan. I have tried everything from hand cream and hair conditioners to serums and toners. It’s very rare that I come across a product I don’t particularly like… until now.
As you can see from the title of this post, I’m talking about Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado. The three main ingredients featured in the eye cream include:
- Avocado Oil – A natural source for amino acids and Vitamins A, D and E- which helps retain and add mositure to the skin
- Beta Carotene – predominately found in carrots and other red and orange vegetables known to help protect skin from damaged cause by the sun
- Shea Butter – as pretty much everyone knows, this is generally great for your skin helping to reduce visible signs of wrinkles to adding moisture
Everyone rants and raves about how amazeballs this product is. Yes ok, it is rich and creamy and ok it doesn’t migrate into your eyes, but I’m just not loving it, and here’s why.
First of all, I found this far too gloopy and sticky. It’s sort of turns to nothing between your fingers and I find it so hard to rub under my eyes. Even patting it in just doesn’t seem to have much affect and I end up looking like I have some sort of eye infection with green gloop everywhere. When I was in store, the lady that helped me out advised me to apply this by rubbing my finger with the matching finger on the opposite hand together first, then pat it into the under eye area. Apparently, the natural fattiness from the avocado breaks down slightly and the consistency becomes thinner which is supposed to help the product to glide on easier under the eye. I really can’t say this worked either. Like… seriously. Is it really that hard to put on a damn eye cream?
Let’s face it, when I’ve had a long hard day at work, the only thing I want to do before bed (as well as my whole wash, cleanse, tone, moisturise, serum routine) is to skilfully work a product into my under eyes. I just want a smooth, quick sinking, light, easy eye cream. Because honestly, I’m not really thinking about what I’m doing when I do my little bedtime routine. I just wanna go straight from dabbing my finger from the tub to my face and go to sleep. Ahh I sound so hard done to!
I am aware that I’m moaning about this a lot, but it’s a serious matter for a skincare fanatic! The colour of this is a very pale putty green, actually it reminds me of that putty toy you got as a kid in a little tub that made fart noises. Can you tell I’m on one today? I do apologise. It smells pretty decent I’d say, not my favourite, but not awful either.
All for just £22.50 in one teeny tiny 14ml pot.
So as much as I’m disliking this eye cream right now, I will be giving it more of a chance to see if it really does combat puffiness, dark circles and wrinkles. One can only hope that it’s helping to keep those pesky eye wrinkles away, since I have started to notice very fine lines starting to creep in, I’m only 23!
I really do hope I learn to love this, I want to, I’m trying, please give me strength! It just doesn’t feel as luxurious as I’d like it to I suppose.
Has anyone else used this avocado eye treatment before? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Until next time,
