Blogmas – To Blog Or Not To Blog?

I’ve been reading a lot of posts lately relating to Blogmas. Since only becoming a blogger this year, it is the first I’d heard of it and I decided to do a little research to see what it entails. Basically, it’s where you post about Christmas each and every day in December until the 25th. Whether its gift ideas or wrapping techniques, as long as it’s about Christmas, you’re good.

I can’t help but see both good and bad points of this, so for those in a bit of limbo like me, I thought I’d do a pros and cons list.

  • Increase in blog stats, views and visitors
  • Gets you into the Christmas spirit
  • Great for anyone Christmas obsessed like me!
  • Have a theme for content which can make it easier to think of inspiration or ideas
  • All things merry and bright
  • It’s instantly rewarding

  • Need to be very organised
  • Need to have content ready to blog every day
  • All spare time goes on blogging
  • Can seem rushed or unorganised
  • Could have the opposite affect on Christmas spirit and make you less excited?
  • Posts could get lost in a sea of blogmas posts
  • Some followers do not want to read about Christmas all the time
  • Multiple posts a day if you continue normal schedule e.g. Top Ten Tuesday – very time consuming

As you can see, I have a few more cons to this than pros, as much as I want to do this Blogmas, I’m not 100% sure that I would be able to keep up. I don’t want to run out of any inspiration or originality, sometimes posts around a theme can be very similar from blog to blog. I feel like if I had a few days off work to get my head down and write I could, but the pressure just puts me off, I want to enjoy this time of year and the little free time I have to spend at home.

What are your thoughts on Blogmas? Do you think I can do it? Anyone else doing Blogmas?

Please comment below, I’m desperate for some advice!

Love, Charlie x

  1. You could try an alternative to only do 12 days. But I think if youโ€™re not into it, you shouldnโ€™t do it. Iโ€™m doing Blogmas but not every post (or even half, honestly) is geared towards the Holidays

      1. Iโ€™ve always assumed so up until reading your post. Iโ€™ve seen other bloggers do posts for a month for Halloween and they werenโ€™t all Halloween related. Either way I think itโ€™s up to the blogger ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

  2. I would prefer 25 (or 12) days of non-Christmas related posts, personally. There’s definitely no shortage of Christmas content out there and so much of it is repetitive. If you’re not 100% passionate about putting out quality Christmas related posts every day, I wouldn’t do it.
I agree with your pros and cons, but I think the only person to answer whether you can do Blogmas or not is yourself! x

PS. I’m sorry if that all sounded super negative. I just mean you do you, for you.

    1. Hehe thank you for your advice! Now I know it doesn’t always have to be Christmas related I’m thinking to just go for it. I have no end of posts ready to go – just waiting to take good photos! I think this is doable guys ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ x

  3. I mostly agree, I love the idea of blogmas, and I’m very excited to seeing everyone else posts but I don’t think I’m quite ready or prepared enough to do it this year, maybe next year though, for both of us ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I am a new blogger and this is my first time hearing about this. It sounds interesting but Iโ€™m not sure if I have enough ideas for 25 posts about Christmas lol. I can see the benefits in doing it though.

  5. This is only my third month blogging, and I’ve decided to do Blogmas, but I’ve also been planning my content since I started. I found out about it right when I started, so I’ve had some time to think, create, and write. I also really love Christmas and the holiday season (to the point where I assume it could get annoying), so it’s easy for me to come up with holiday-inspired posts for 25 days straight. If you’re unsure, try the 12 days like someone mentioned earlier, and if you end up loving it, extend it to the full 25. There are lots of helpful posts out there that list a bunch of Blogmas ideas, and they’re all similar in some aspect, but different as well. Best of luck on your decision!

  6. Hi lovely ! I am doing Blogmas but mixing it up & not doing solely Christmas related posts. It will be half n half – itโ€™s far to difficult to come up with original Christmas posts for each and everyday! You can do Blogmas however you like, you are the creator ๐Ÿ˜Š xx

      1. Thatโ€™s exactly what Iโ€™ve done – planned each post & Iโ€™ll write at a time ! Itโ€™s tough but worth it in the long run ! Christmas is the best time of year !! Looking forward to reading your posts xx

  7. I feel you! I would love to do it but the stress would probably drown me haha. I would so much rather do a couple of christmassy post every week than try to do something that i wont be able to do.
