Handmade Valentines Gifts For The Sentimental Soul

Evening all,

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so I thought it would be a great idea to share some super cute, handmade gift ideas with you all. Handmade gifts are definitely more suited to those who are more on the sentimental side. Of course, flowers and chocolates are a great way to show your appreciation for your other half on Valentine’s, but how cute is it knowing that someone went through all the effort of making something just because they love you.

A romantic, well written Valentine’s Day card is completely, one hundred percent necessary. Some may find it cheesy, but 99% of the population will find it sweet as heck, especially the more sensitive, sentimental types as it is something that can be kept forever. I personally have kept every single card and little love note from Myles since day one. I love that in years to come, you can look back on your time together.

You could even step it up a notch by making your own photo V-day card on sites such as Moonpig or Funky Pigeon. If you want to get extra crafty, make your own from scratch using card, stickers, paints, even washi tape!

If you want to be that bit extra for your lover, writing a heartfelt love letter to them will make their day and of course will be a beautiful keepsake. Whether you write down the moment you knew you’d fallen in love, your first date memories, or even a list of reasons why you love and admire your special someone. I mean it’s a great thing to do any time, but definitely works to pull out all of the stops on Valentine’s Day, just remember to write from the heart!

Oh my gosh, how cute would it be to get it stamped and posted to be delivered on Valentine’s Day!?

You could even jump to a whole new level of romantic by writing different love letters or notes for different occasions – also known as Open When Letters. Basically you write a letter or note for your partner to open when: feeling stressed, happy, had a bad day, we’ve had a fight, had a good day, you think of me… you get the drift. There’s thousands of ideas online and on Pinterest.

I mean how effin’ adorable is this?! Who wouldn’t love this?

The effort and time that goes into these makes my heart melt. I love the added pictures and little gifts, confetti and quotes, all of it is just beautiful – anyone would appreciate and LOVE such a wonderful gift.

Memory jars, love note jars and 365 day jars are another lovely, handcrafted gift to give your partner. They can be random love notes, date ideas or just happy memories. If you wanted you could do all three and have a nifty colour coded key to show which colour note is for which category.

I love that these can not only be kept to look back on cute memories, but also they’re a gift that keeps on giving. You can limit the person to one note a day and really let them know they’re loved every day, even when you’re not right there with them.

Create your lover a cute photo box frame! You can get right into arts and crafts here, pick up some scrabble letters, jewel hearts, photos of you two together and throw it together to make something personalised and wonderful.

Even giving your partner a frame with photographs of you both will mean the world to them. I love these crafty little designs, Myles’s mum actually got us one made when we first moved in together, it’s so cute and I love it because of how personal it is and how it will stay in our home and remind us of first moving in together.

It’s always so lovely to do something thoughtful for your loved one on Valentine’s Day and these little homemade gifts mean more than a random present from the seasonal isle at your local supermarket. Not that that isn’t nice!

It’s just that handmade is not only personal and meaningful, but something they can keep and look back on knowing that someone loved them enough to make it for them. Just remember that effort is key guys, money isn’t everything and to always love your partner in the best way you can.

What are some of your Valentine’s Day gift ideas? Have you ever made a Valentines or romantic gift before?

Don’t forget to leave a comment below, let me know what you think!

  1. I loved this post! I think it’s nice to spend some money but interactions like these mean so much more than a dinner or present. Sometimes it’s just nice words you need to hear and these ideas are so cute and thoughtful x
