Over the past few months, I’ve been consciously making an effort to make small changes in our family lives to do our bit for the planet. Whether that’s buying reusable shopping bags or switching out our cleaning products to eco friendly variations, small changes make a big impact.
Natural, sustainable beauty products are something that I’ve been aiming to convert to recently. Luckily, the lovely Amy from Beauty Kitchen got in touch just at the right time to introduce me to the brand.
Beauty Kitchen is a natural beauty and skincare brand that offer a range of cruelty free and mostly vegan products. What I particularly love is that they design every product with sustainability in mind, even down to their packaging and groundbreaking recycling scheme.
I was very kindly sent three products from their Fragrance Free range to try:
- Organic Vegan Body Wash
- Organic Vegan Hand & Body Cream
- Organic Vegan Bar Soap
The Fragrance Free range is designed especially for those with sensitive skin, including babies and children. Perfect for my eczema riddled skin and gentle enough for Ollie’s delicate, young skin too!
Organic Vegan Body Wash
First of all, I love the packaging! The aluminium bottle gives a sleek look to the overall design. I love the bright simple labelling too. It really screams fresh, natural and sustainable as well as being trendy too.
Did you know that about 75% of the aluminium ever produced is still in use today? It’s great for reusing as it is more sustainable than any of its plastic counterparts.
The actual body wash is packed full of organic ingredients, including my favourite, hydrating coconut oil. All designed to leave you feeling clean and refreshed, as well as keeping the skin smooth and supple. I love that it is vegan, SLS free, paraben free, cruelty free, organic, and zero waste!
It rubs into a nice subtle lather, it’s not too thick and cleans the skin thoroughly with little water. You really do feel squeaky clean after using this, almost as if your skin can has had a new lease of life!
It does have a slight subtle fragrance that I presume is just all the lovely natural ingredients inside. My favourite thing about it though is just how gentle it is on Ollie’s sensitive skin. He loves rubbing it in himself and it’s a nice peace of mind for me, knowing that there are no harmful ingredients in there too. As you can see – it’s a winner for him!
Organic Vegan Body Cream
The organic vegan body cream, like the body wash, is in a fully recyclable aluminium bottle and is full of lovely sustainably sourced ingredients. There’s some soothing organic aloe vera and shea butter in there that is perfect for looking after sensitive and young skin.
The product is a thin consistency, it’s pretty easy to rub in and doesn’t get that clump of product over the pump after every use. You don’t need loads for your entire body either, a little goes a very long way!
I love giving Ollie a little baby massage when rubbing in his cream. This one is lovely to use on his baby soft skin and helps to keep his little eczema patches calm and quiet. I’m so glad that it soaks in fast and doesn’t give a horrible tacky feel on the skin, it makes it a lot easier to get Ollie’s PJ’s on for bed!
Organic Vegan Soap Bar
I love the idea of using a bar of soap instead of liquid soap! I’m so happy with the Organic Vegan Soap Bar. The bar is a generous size and has a cute little imprint of the Beauty Kitchen logo and slogan, which is a nice little reminder of what a great brand you’re using! It is gentle enough to be used on your face, body or hands. Personally I use this at the sink for hand washing.
It is bursting with natural vegetable oils for soft, clean skin. You can definitely tell just by using it that it contains coconut oil! It’s really nice to have a soap bar that doesn’t dry out my already dry hands and it’s not greasy or hard to wash away either. I’m trying to encourage Ollie to wash his hands often too and I find the bar a lot easier (and less messier) than liquid soap! Again, like the body wash and body cream, it’s nice to know that there are no harmful chemicals going into his young baby skin.
Bonus for the soap – it comes completely plastic free! It is boxed up in lovely 100% recycled cardboard, printed using 100% vegetable ink!
Overall, I really like the Beauty Kitchen Fragrance Free range. I wouldn’t usually buy a fragrance free product, but I’m glad I’ve been introduced to some, especially as these are such lovely, natural products. I love that I can use them as they are, or mix a few drops of my desired essential oil in for a different scent of my choice – so versatile! I love that they’re kind to the planet and to my little boys skin too.
My favourite thing about this company though is their dedication to using fully sustainable, natural ingredients and packaging. I am obsessed with the Return, Refill, Repeat recycling scheme too, it’s so reassuring to know that I’m not adding more plastic to landfill!
Thank you again to Amy and Beauty Kitchen for such wonderful products!*
